Subject: Strategic Non-Cooperation Training Starts Today - find out more!
From: LWV SLOCO
Empowering Voters. Defending Democracy. | Dear League members and friends of the League,
We know many of our members and others in the community are asking what they can do to counter the authoritarian, unconstitutional actions of the current administration. We all feel powerless at times but if we work together and with other like-minded organizations we can affect change.
In this spirit, we are passing along this information about a series of training events organized by No Kings and managed by Indivisible. The training series is titled: "One Million Rising: Strategic Non-Cooperation to Fight Authoritarianism."
No Kings has launched One Million Rising—a national effort to train one million people in the strategic logic and practice of non-cooperation, as well as the basics of community organizing and campaign design. The campaign is designed to build “people power” that cannot be ignored. The League of Women Voters supports building a movement to unite and rise up against the anti-democratic actions of this administration.

Starts today!
“It’ll take all of us—not just on single days of mass action, but through sustained organizing in our communities." Erica Chenoweth, “Why Civil Resistance Works.”
Chenoweth indicates that on average it takes 3.5% of a population engaging in sustained resistance to overcome/stop an authoritarian government. In the U.S. that’s about 15 million people. So we need to broaden the movement. That’s community organizing.
Learn how to activate your friends, neighbors, and associates in three 90 minute, online sessions on consecutive Wednesdays starting at 5:00 PM (PST) starting Wednesday, July 16.
